I am so excited to share with you that I have been accepted into Piedmont Craftsment Inc. as an exhibiting member. This guild of fine-craft artists is well known throughout the Southeast and is gaining National notoriety for the artists who create extraordinary work in Clay, Wood, Metals, Jewelry, Fiber, Leather, Photography and Mixed Media.
The membership application process has two stages: the Image Jury and the Object Jury. I submitted 8 images of my wool sculptures for the jury to judge as to the professional look of the work and of the photos themselves.
I was approved at the image level and was invited to take part in the object jury at Piedmont Craftsmen’s Fair in November where my work was exhibited by the PCI staff in the Group Applicants Booth for the jury. At this stage the jury is looking for the quality of the work itself in person. Preparing for this was very nerve-wracking for me. I was in a bit of a freak out during the PCI Fair weekend while judging was going on. It was fun to interact with shoppers every now and again to hear their feedback.
It was a week later when I received the letter of welcome into Piedmont Craftsmen from the Head of the Jury Committee. This was so exciting that I was just flying high and swept up with joy for all of December and most of January! My feet have landed for a while as I prepare for the New Members Show that opens during Gallery Hop on Friday March 7th, 7:00 – 10:00 pm. It will be up until April 2nd at the Gallery/Shop at 6th and Trade.
I feel so honored to be among the incredible artists who are Exhibiting Members and to be part of an organization full of supporters of Fine Craft and Art!
Here is the announcment about this year’s 19 New Exhibiting Members.
